August 18: Meet the Family (Derry)

Someone told me once that, as a young adult, you should be intentional about spending time with people who are both significantly older than you and significantly younger. Those older than you will share perspective and those younger will help you stay attuned to your creativity and sense of awe.

So on this day, I think it’s safe to say I got my fill of creative energy and awe! Louise and I spent the day with her three grandchildren, all of whom are as kind and spirited as she is.

I don’t take it for granted - being welcomed into someone’s home. And I am even more grateful when I am also invited into someone’s family. And that’s what it feels like with Louise, her two kids, and her grandkids: that I get to be a part of the family. All the love, laughter, and chaos.
